DESCRIPTION:Auditions for Oakland Youth Orchestras' (OYO) 52nd season will be held this spring on weekends in early May 2026 at Oakland University. Online scheduling is available now at oyomi.org/join-oyo/auditions/.\n\n\n\nFor over 50 years\, OYO has provided students of all ages with an inspiring music education and exploration in a supportive environment. OYO's four orchestras offer enriching experiences for those just beginning their musical journey and those intent on pursuing a career in music.\n\n	Studio String: Advanced Beginner\; Strings (violin\, viola\, cello\, bass)\; Generally\, grades 2-7\n	String: Intermediate\; Strings (violin\, viola\, cello\, bass)\; Generally\, grades 3-9\n	Philharmonia: Advanced Intermediate\; Strings\, Woodwinds\, Brass\, Percussion\; Generally\, grades 6-12\n	Symphony: Advanced\; Strings\, Woodwinds\, Brass\, Percussion\; High school musicians\n\n In addition to an enriching orchestra experience\, students have the opportunity to participate in a number of additional activities\, developing a breadth to their musical journey.\n\n\n	Chamber Ensembles: Students play in small groups\, developing independence\, confidence and teamwork. Open to all students in all orchestras.\n	Community Outreach: Students are offered further performance opportunities as soloists or small ensembles throughout the area.\n	Solo and Concerto Competition: Students have the opportunity to compete each spring for prizes and the honor of performing for audiences in the following season.\n	Merit Scholarships: Up to 12 students receive awards each season to be applied toward their music education - i.e. lessons\, instrument upgrades\, music camps\, etc.\n\n Once auditions are completed\, students are place in the orchestra in which they can be both successful and challenged.
