SUMMARY:OPC 15th Annual Charity Event-A Night in Monte Carlo -Sponsored by Bellbrook
DESCRIPTION:The Older Person's Commission (OPC) is pleased to present its 15th Annual Charity Event A Night in Monte Carlo to benefit the Meals on Wheels program at OPC.\n\n\n\nFor almost four decades\, OPC has provided nutrition services 7 days a week to eligible seniors living in Rochester\, Rochester Hills\, Oakland Township\, Addison\, Auburn Hills\, Brandon\, Lake Orion\, Oxford and Independence Township. Without these meals prepared and delivered by OPC volunteers\, many seniors would be prematurely placed in assisted living or nursing homes due to their inability to shop or prepare their own meals. The Meals on Wheels program is truly an important service not only for seniors\, but also for their families and friends.\n\n\n\nThe Meals on Wheels program represents more than a nutrious meal\, however. It also provides a friendly face as the volunteer delivers the meal and provides a wellness check for the senior. More importantly\, unlike many other food delivery programs that place seniors on a waiting list for weeks or even months\, OPC has no waiting list for its Meals on Wheels program\, and meals are delivered within 24 hours of a senior's phone call requesting food service. Last year OPC prepared\, delivered and served a total of 117\,959 nutritionally balanced meals 94\,038 of which were delivered to homes and 23\,921 prepared for dining- in at OPC and other area senior centers. Over 500 volunteers delivered meals in 2015.\n\n\n\nThe OPC service delivery area has and will experience a 34% increase in the 60+ population between 2010-2020. The future needs of the 60+ population will continue to increase as will the need for nutritionally balanced meals either for short-term services while recovering from surgery or illness or ongoing service for seniors that are homebound and not able to shop or cook for themselves.\n\n\n\nWe hope you will join us in this important mission. Thank you for sponsoring this entertaining evening in support of Meals on Wheels\, a worthy cause!\nFor more information on sponsorships\, contact Kelly Dean\, OPC Director of Advancement\, at (248) 659-1034 or Kelly_Dean@opcseniorcenter.org\n\n\n\nTickets to A Night in Monte Carlo are $150 and can be purchased by calling the OPC at 248-659-1029 or http://www.opcseniorcenter.org/gala
