SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting Celebrating The Rochester Pollinators Mini Forest
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Ribbon Cutting celebrating Rochester Pollinators Mini Forest! The Mini-Forest project marks an exciting milestone as the second of its kind in Southeast Michigan\, rooted in a powerful vision of native tree restoration and community involvement. Based on a Japanese method developed in the 1970s\, these Miyawaki forests are dense and grow 10 times faster than a typical forest\; is rich with life and is designed to bring back the beauty and resilience of old-growth forest in just a few short years. They capture carbon\, cool the air\, and provide essential habitat for local insects and pollinators\, helping to heal the land and strengthen the ecosystem. The Rochester Pollinators is an educational resource for the value and need to restore native plants and trees to our local landscapes \n\n\n\nIn 2019\, Marilyn Trent\, founder of Rochester Pollinators\, learned that Monarch butterfly populations had plummeted by 90% depending upon the Year. She also learned that something as simple as planting milkweed could save them - and she felt had to tell everyone this. What began as one idea to save one butterfly has turned into a thriving movement to protect all pollinators and restore the delicate balance of our ecosystems. Today\, with the passion of over 255 volunteers and hundreds of pollinator gardens growing across the community\, Rochester Pollinators stands as a beacon of hope\, proving that small actions can indeed make a difference. \n\n\n\nCity of Rochester is a certified National Wildlife Federation\, Monarch Champion City\, 1 of 4 in the nation. It is a partnership between the City of Rochester\, DPW\, Rochester City Beautiful Commission. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nView the Press Release\n\n\n\nView The Rochester Pollinators Mini Forest
