DESCRIPTION:NEWS RELEASE\n\n \n\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\n\nSeptember 14\, 2023\n\n \n\nRochester Community Concert Band presents \n\n'JoyRIDE: A Musical Journey Around the World'\n\n \n\nROCHESTER HILLS\, MI. The Rochester Community Concert Band will present their opening concert of the 2023-2024 season titled 'JoyRIDE: A Musical Journey Around the World' on Tuesday\, October 10th\, at 7:30 p.m. in Varner Hall on the campus of Oakland University.  Parking for Varner Hall can be found on the west side of the building\, lot P36\, 149 Library Drive\, Rochester Hills\, MI 48309.  Handicapped parking is available on the north end of the lot\, with drop-off access to the lobby of the hall via the circle drive. The concert is open to the public and admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted and appreciated. \n\n \n\nFeatured at the concert will be Kevin E. Phillips II\, euphonium soloist\, performing Arban's "Carnival of Venice". Kevin E. Phillips II is a lifelong classical performer\, composer and conductor. He began composing and playing at the age of 10 and conducting at the age of 15. He attended MSU and Wayne State for composition and music theory studying with Jere Hutchison and Gerry Custer. At Wayne\, he continued to work with Doug Bianchi on conducting and will be starting his masters in orchestral conducting in fall of 2024. Kevin was nominated for a Fulbright fellowship to do his DMA in conducting in Vienna\, Austria. \n\n Kevin first performed "Carnival of Venice" with the Blue Lake International Southern Winds in 2007 at the age of 17 in Germany\, Austria\, Switzerland and France. Kevin has been teaching music privately since 2005 and currently works for the Dearborn School of Music teaching all band and orchestra instruments. \n\n \n\nOther selections to be performed include: "JoyRIDE" by Michael Markowski\, "Armenian Dances\, Part I" by Alfred Reed\, "Selections from Les Mis rables" arranged by Warren Barker\, "Amparito Roca" by Jamie Texidor\, "Byzantine Dances" by Carol Brittin Chambers\, and "Glenn Miller In Concert"\, arranged by Paul Murtha.\n\n \n\nFor more information\, visit our website RochesterCommunityConcertBand.org\, email the RCCB at RochesterCommunityConcertBand@gmail.com or phone 248.462.9043\n\n \n\nAbout Rochester Community Concert Band\n\nIn their 8th season\, the 80-member all volunteer Rochester Community Concert Band is conducted by Paul F.
