DESCRIPTION:NEWS RELEASE\n \n\nRochester Community Concert Band presents \n\n'Summer Sounds'\nROCHESTER HILLS\, Mich.\, July 10\, 2024   The Rochester Community Concert Band\, directed by Conductor and Artistic Director Paul F. DeRubeis\, is pleased to invite you to a free outdoor concert on Tuesday\, August 6\, 2024\, at 7:00 p.m. on the east lawn of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church\, 2675 John R. Road\, Rochester Hills\, 48307. In case of inclement weather\, the rain date is Wednesday\, August 7th.  Donations gratefully accepted and appreciated. Donations can be made at RochesterCommunityConcertBand.org\, click on the "Donate" tab\n\n \n\nThe program opens with  John Williams' "Olympic Fanfare and Theme" from the 1983 L.A. Olympics\, followed by a medley of songs from the musical "La La Land" arranged by Michael Brown and highlights from the James Bond movie soundtrack "Skyfall".  Classical musical gems include "Light Cavalry Overture" by Franz von Supp  and the aria "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's Opera Turandot . We are excited to have Tenor Soloist Daniel Greig to sing this wonderful famous aria. \n  \n\nWe also welcome back Dr. Jeffery Heisler\, Alto Saxophone from Oakland University to perform a spectacular arrangement of "Georgia on My Mind". \n  \n\nMaestro DeRubeis will then lead the band in an American celebration to our Armed Forces with a special tribute that includes "Salute to America's Finest"\, "America the Beautiful" and John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever". \n  \n\nThere will also be Food trucks too starting at 6:30 p.m.\n  \n\nBring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a fun evening of food and music! \n  \n\nAbout Rochester Community Concert Band\n\nThe 80-member all volunteer Rochester Community Concert Band is conducted by Paul F. DeRubeis and includes adult community members\, college students from Macomb Community College and advanced high school students from greater Rochester and Rochester Hills.
