DESCRIPTION:Surround yourself in classical music this Spring as the Rochester Symphony Orchestra (RSO) presents Classical Gems\, performed by the RSO's Chamber Orchestra\, and conducted by Music Director\, Maestro Zeljko Milicevic.\n\n\n\nThe concert will be presented on Sunday\, March 19\, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church - 620 Romeo Road\, Rochester\, MI.\n\n\n\nThe RSO's Chamber Orchestra delivers a world-class and unique classical music experience. The program features selections from German\, Italian and English composers including German composers Johann Sebastian Bach's Violin Concerto in G Minor\, BWV 1056R\; and his son Carl Phillip Emmanuel Bach's Symphony No. 4 in A major Wq.182 H660\; and Felix Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 4 in C Minor. Also included are Italian composer Tomaso Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor\, and English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams' Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra.\n\n\n\nFeatured guest soloist\, Donna Lorraine Gunn\, RSO Concertmaster and recipient of the John A. Plumer Memorial Scholarship Award and finalist in the Robert Mondavi Violin Competition performs Bach's Violin Concerto and American composer\, Harold Arlen's\, Stormy Weather.  She has performed as a soloist with the University of Maine\, Arcadia\, Houlton\, and the Rochester Symphony Orchestras. Gunn is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and has studied and performed with many great violinists. Ms. Gunn is the concertmaster for the Rochester Symphony Orchestra\, section violinist in Flint and Saginaw Symphonies and an instructor for the Oakland Homeschool Music Institute and Oakland University Community Music Programs.\n\n\n\nTickets for the RSO's Classical Gems Spring concert are currently on sale.
