This session offers an up-close look into a workplace homicide SEC responded to, the lessons learned and the steps put in place to help prevent a similar tragedy.
Participants will learn about the safety and security gaps identified post-incident and how meaningful changes were made both immediately and long term. Participants also will gain a deep understanding of the impact workplace violence can have on an organization on both culture and continuity of operations – and why preparedness is non-negotiable when it comes to minimizing the trauma experienced by employees as well as business interruptions.
Key Learning Objectives:
1. The statistics and financial implications surrounding workplace violence, including both direct and indirect costs.
2. The difference between reaction-based preparation and threat-based preparation.
3. The three key elements and best practices of pre-incident preparation, including training and drills, physical and technical security, process and procedures.
4. Checklist of areas that go into a site assessment, and how each organization can work to mitigate those risks with their leadership teams.
5. Identify the proper timeline and response when a crisis or emergency does happen within their organization.
