About Us

Loving our neighbor is what we do.
Loving God is why we do it.

When asked what the greatest command of God was for the people of God, 37 Jesus replied: '''Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.'' (Matthew 22:37-40)

In the letter to the Galatians, Paul confirms the centrality of this as well.
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ''Love your neighbor as yourself.'' (Galatians 5:14)

We believe that the command to love God and neighbors is at the center of God's plan for our lives. Loving our neighbors is an act of incarnational presence that models the Jesus way of living. Really loving our neighbor—not just in theory, but in practice—brings the redemptive power of the Father shown in Christ through the Spirit into our everyday lives in ways that will change the world. Put plainly, Rochester Church is going to take Jesus at his literal word, and we are going to live and act as if Jesus meant it when he told us that we are supposed to love God by loving our neighbors.

We are loved and chosen, and we have been saved by the grace of God. With this as our identity, we seek to actively share the gospel, grow disciples, and be a safe place for all.
