Michigan’s first internal improvement project dates back to 1837 - A proposed canal that ran from Lake St. Clair to Lake Michigan, straight through the Rochester community! Retrace its route from Mt. Clemens to Rochester, see remains of one of the locks, and learn the history of this man-made waterway that endured as a millrace long after its use for transportation ended. Bring a bag lunch. Participants drive themselves to multiple locations throughout the tour. Presented by the Clinton and Kalamazoo Canal Society in partnership with the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm
