The Women’s Fund was founded in 2000 by a group of 100 women who saw a need in the community to champion more women’s causes. These 100 women each wrote a check, and they are now known as the founders of the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester Women’s Fund.
The Women’s Fund is an endowed fund, sustained largely by donors who are women, making grants every year to organizations in our communities that support women’s causes: Women Helping Women.
In 2023, the CFGR Women’s Fund granted a total of $25,000 to various organizations in our communities working to help women and women’s causes:
$7000 to Friendly Rochester: a Dementia and Age-Friendly Initiative
$5000 to Rochester Area Neighborhood House
$1000 to the OPC Social and Activity Center for Acts of Kindness
$2500 to Grace Centers of Hope
$3000 to Faith Works Michigan
$1000 to Hope Against Trafficking
$2500 to Assistance League of Southeast Michigan for Assault Survivor Kits
$2000 to the Chaldean American Ladies of Charity for fresh food distribution program
The Women’s Fund is approaching its 25th Anniversary next year, and we are excited to share the Women’s Fund mission and vision with the next generation of donors.
