Virtual Charity Bike Ride FAQs
To keep everyone safe and not riding in large groups, we made this event a virtual charity bike ride this year. We suggest you ride the Paint Creek Trail at a time that fits your schedule. Even though the ticketing page defaults to May 1 @ 9:30 am, you can do the ride at any time during the month of May. We will have a goodie bag to all paid riders available for pickup at Oat Soda in Lake Orion from May 1 - May 31, during normal business hours. Checkout their website for hours of operation.
You are biking the Paint Creek Trail. Starting from downtown Rochester, we suggest you park in and around Rochester Mills Beer Co - 400 Water St, Rochester, MI 48307. They have parking directly behind the building. Other downtown Rochester parking lots include the Rochester Farmers Market and across from the Post Office & Rochester Public Library. You can bike to the trail from any of those lots and easily stop into Rochester Mills Beer Co for a pre or post ride drink. Just follow the signs to and from the paint Creek Trail.
With every paid adult ticket (for those 21 and older), one minor is allowed to attend the event. Only paid adults of legal drinking age will receive the goodie bag. Please keep in mind that there is not a SAG support vehicle for the ride, so any children need to be able to complete the ride with you.
The main bike tour route is 20-miles round-trip if you bike from Rochester Mills Beer Co in downtown Rochester to Oat Soda bar in downtown Lake Orion and back or vice-versa. The entire trail is slightly uphill going to lake Orion and slightly downhill coming back. You can bike the route as far as you like and are not required to bike all the way to Lake Orion, but the goodie bag is ONLY at Oat Soda, so if you don't bike all the up there, drive on over to Oat Soda at a later point to pick up the goodie bag.
Mountain, comfort, or road bikes are fine for this bike route. You will be riding on rail trails that are paved, hard-packed rock and dirt surfaces. For your safety, helmets are strongly recommended for all of our events.Images
