Included in this program, are “Galop” by Dimitri Shostakovich, “One Life Beautiful” by Julie Giroux, the popular reggaeton and latin song, “Despacito” arr. Paul Murtha, “Mackinac Island Suite” by Michigan composer Andrew David Perkins, the band classic, “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger, the ever popular “The Typewriter” by Leroy Anderson, and “Resound” composed by Nicole Piunno in honor of the RCCB’s 5th Anniversary in 2020.
We also welcome composer/conductor Kevin E. Phillips II to conduct his work “Processional and Fanfare” written on the occasion of his father’s (Kevin E. Phillips) retirement from Clawson Public Schools after 31 years of service as Director of Bands.
To close the concert, we will feature our six member RCCB Tuba section in “Tiptoe through the Tubas”.
The RCCB is a partner with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra/Detroit Harmony Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to provide an instrument to any student in the city of Detroit who wishes to learn to play. DSO/Detroit Harmony is again running an Instrument Donation Drive campaign during the month of October. To that end, we are inviting concert goers to scrounge their closets for any band or string instruments (in any condition) they are no longer using and bring them to the concert to donate.
