Breadless Signs First Franchise Partner, Marking Major Milestone in National Expansion

The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to celebrate a significant milestone for Chamber member Breadless, the Detroit-founded fast-casual restaurant concept known for reimagining the traditional sandwich. The company recently announced the signing of its first franchise partner, launching the next phase of its growth with a five-unit development agreement spanning Michigan and Illinois.

The franchise agreement with global business leader Jonah Smith and Third Coast Harvest, LLC includes plans for two new Breadless locations in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and three in Chicago, Illinois. The first Ann Arbor restaurant is anticipated to open in Fall 2027, with the first Chicago location expected to follow in Fall 2028.

With company-owned locations in Detroit and Rochester, as well as a location at Comerica Park, the agreement represents a major achievement for the rapidly growing brand and underscores the strength of its innovative business model.

"Signing our first franchise partner is a milestone we have been building toward since the beginning," said Marc Howland, Co-Founder and CEO of Breadless. "We created Breadless to challenge what people expect from fast casual and prove that feel-good food can be healthy and delicious. Having a partner who believes enough in that vision to bring Breadless to new communities is incredibly meaningful for our entire team, and we are excited for the future."

Founded on the simple idea of reinventing the sandwich, Breadless replaces traditional bread with nutrient-rich leafy supergreens to create fresh, made-to-order wraps. The menu also features chef-crafted bowls, salads, and smoothies designed to provide flavorful, health-conscious options for busy professionals, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone seeking nutritious meals without sacrificing taste.

The new franchise agreement validates the brand's unique concept and supports its long-term growth strategy as Breadless explores additional expansion opportunities across the country. The company is currently evaluating potential markets in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Recognized as one of FastCasual's 20 Brands to Watch for 2025 and honored with the Best On-The-Go award in the 2025 Detroit Is It Food Awards, Breadless continues to earn national recognition while remaining rooted in Southeast Michigan.

The Rochester Regional Chamber congratulates Breadless on this exciting achievement and looks forward to seeing the company continue its growth and success while representing the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit found throughout our business community.
