Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation proudly presented a recognition plaque to the Troy Athens High School leadership team in honor of their extraordinary efforts during Charity Week 2025. Through a week of fundraising events and community-driven initiatives, the students raised over $100,000 to support local senior citizens in need of financial and consultative assistance for housing and care solutions.

Each year, Troy Athens High School selects a local nonprofit organization as the beneficiary of its Charity Week. Spearheaded by the student council, the school coordinates a series of events that engage students, staff, parents, and the broader community. This longstanding tradition not only raises critical funds, but also instills leadership, empathy, and civic engagement in students.

Since the conclusion of Charity Week, the Foundation has already seen a measurable increase in awareness and engagement. Community members, families, and local agencies have reached out with referrals, and seniors in need are actively being connected to critical housing and care services. Most importantly, grants are already being issued to low-income seniors, directly improving their quality of life thanks to the funds raised.

The support from Troy Athens is not only financial—it’s transformational. It’s helping shine a light on the needs of one of our most vulnerable populations and creating a stronger, more compassionate community.
