Since 1979, the Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor has been a prestigious tradition for recognizing and celebrating former Oakland Athletics individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, achievement, and have made significant contributions and impacts on their sports, Oakland, and the surrounding community as a whole.
The Hall of Honor serves as a means to commemorate the legacy of these individuals and their lasting influence on the university's growth and development, through a distinguished recognition and awards ceremony.
This year, five individuals and one team will join notable company, as they stamp their blueprints as legends in Oakland Athletics history and add to the already top class resumes as student-athletes. Additionally, two other individuals will receive recognition as they accept the Community Service Award and the George Wibby Award.
"Representing six different sports, the 2025 Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor inductees are among the very best to ever compete at Oakland University," said Oakland Athletics Director, Steve Waterfield. "Their inclusion in the Hall of Honor is well-deserved and further cements their legacy in Oakland University Athletics history. I look forward to celebrating their induction into the Hall of Honor on Feb. 8, 2025 and welcoming them to an elite group of other Pioneer and Golden Grizzly greats."
The 2025 Hall of Honor inductees include the 2002 Softball Team, Bethany Watterworth Codrean (Women's Basketball), Derrick Nelson (Men's Basketball), Jake Kneen (Men's Golf), Mitch Hildebrandt (Men's Soccer), Serena San Cartier (Women's Track and Field), Jeff Cooper (Community Service Award), and Brian Bierley (George Wibby Award).
Tickets to the ceremony are available for purchase and will include a cocktail hour, photo opportunities, dinner, and an inductee presentation from Steve Waterfield, Director of Oakland Athletics. Students, Alumni and surrounding community members are highly encouraged to attend, in support of the University and this year's inductees.
