Rochester City Beautiful Commission Celebrates New Nature Sound Amplifier at Rochester Municipal Park

The Rochester City Beautiful Commission will celebrate the installation of a new Nature Sound Amplifier at the Southern Wet Meadow in Rochester Municipal Park.

The Nature Sound Amplifier was designed and built by Eagle Scout Pranav Redyshetty and his troop as a service project that encourages visitors to connect with nature in a unique and engaging way. Located within the Southern Wet Meadow, the amplifier enhances the sounds of the surrounding environment, allowing visitors to experience birdsong, rustling grasses, and other natural sounds more vividly.

Additional funding for the project was provided through a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, helping bring the vision to life and ensuring the amplifier could become a lasting community asset. The Commission has emphasized the importance of acknowledging the Foundation's support in project communications.

The Rochester City Beautiful Commission is comprised of nine dedicated volunteers who meet monthly to research, plan, and implement projects that enhance Rochester's public spaces and enrich the experiences of residents and visitors. Through thoughtful community improvements, the Commission seeks to create a more beautiful, welcoming, and engaging city.

Over the years, the Commission has spearheaded or supported numerous projects throughout Rochester Municipal Park, including the installation of two public murals, two sets of permanent outdoor cornhole boards, a sun garden, a rain garden, and involvement in the creation of the park's mini-forest. These projects reflect the Commission's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and placemaking.

"The Nature Sound Amplifier is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when passionate volunteers, community partners, and young leaders come together," said representatives of the Rochester City Beautiful Commission. "We are grateful to Eagle Scout Pranav Redyshetty and his troop for their hard work and dedication, and to the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester for helping make this project possible."

Community members are invited to visit the Southern Wet Meadow and experience the Nature Sound Amplifier firsthand. The Commission hopes the installation will inspire visitors to slow down, listen, and appreciate the natural beauty found within Rochester Municipal Park.
