At its August 7 formal meeting, the Oakland University Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Brian Calley, of Portland, Michigan, as its new chair. He replaces Joe Jones, who had served as chair since June 2024. In an email to the campus community, Jones announced his decision to step down as chair due to additional work responsibilities, but noted he would continue to serve as an actively engaged member of the Board.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church's Harmony in the Hills Concert will present the North Star Saxophone Quartet on Wednesday, August 20 at 7 p.m. at 620 Romeo Street, Rochester, MI. The concert will take place in the Garden of Hope, in front of the church, weather permitting. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chair for the outdoor performance.
