Harmony in the Hills Presents ''Autumn Blues'' Featuring Beth Stalker & Jimmy Smith Quartet

St. Paul ’s United Methodist Church ’s Harmony in the Hills Concert Series will present “Autumn Blues” featuring Detroit native recording artist, Beth Stalker and Jimmy Smith Quartet, featuring trumpeter Jimmy Schmidt, pianist Dale Grisa, bassist Ken Pesick and drummer John Hill. The artists will play an eclectic repertoire of jazz and popular favorites on Friday, November 14, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary at 620 Romeo Street, Rochester, MI. Admission is free. Free-will donations are appreciated. 

An award-winning vocalist, Beth Stalker, started her professional music career at the age of four. Known as "Little Liz" she recorded and released her first full-length album entitled Jesus Loves Me. Within a year, Beth was touring and singing on local television shows while Jesus Loves me was playing on radio stations across the United States. Beth even performed on stage with Country Music legends Roy Acuff and Porter Wagoner at the "Gospel Country USA” Music Festival in Opryland, TN. At the age of 20 she debuted her second album, Here With You. The project was praised at the Detroit Music Awards, winning every award in her category, leaving with a total of 6 Detroit Music Awards. Next Stalker recorded Hallelujah I Love Him So, an album of Jazz/Blues standards with the Cliff Monear Trio. In 2008, Stalker auditioned and became a finalist on American Idol. Her most recent project, A Reason To Smile, was released in 2012. It contained 2 originals from songwriter/guitar player, Jim Rawlings, and was produced by Emmy Award Winning Ben West. Stalker is currently working on her next album.

Harmony in the Hills Concert Series is offered by St. Paul ’s United Methodist Church and features the finest local and international talent in classical, jazz and gospel music. Concerts are held throughout the year on various days and at different times to allow more patrons the opportunity to attend. Ticket costs are nominal and sometimes a freewill donation. Harmony in the Hills is under the artistic direction of Director of Music Dr. Seung Hee Cho.
