38-year-old nonprofit honored for serving 3,000+ children annually across metro Detroit

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – September 18, 2025 – Gifts For All God’s Children, a metro Detroit nonprofit serving vulnerable children and families since 1987, received the Community Excellence Award from the City of Rochester Hills at the annual State of the City event.

The recognition, presented by Mayor Bryan Barnett before an auditorium of community leaders and residents, honors the organization’s nearly four decades of impact across the region. Gifts For All God’s Children currently serves more than 3,000 children annually through partnerships with 52 organizations spanning from Flint to Detroit.

“This award belongs to every volunteer, donor, and partner organization who has made this work possible,” said Patti Jacques, Co-founder and Executive Director of Gifts For All God’s Children. “For 38 years, our mission has been simple: meet children’s needs as a conduit of God’s love. This recognition affirms that when a community comes together around its most vulnerable members, transformation happens.”

The organization operates through a three-tiered model that maximizes community impact:

• Giving Programs: Providing Christmas gifts, Easter baskets, and school supplies to 52+ partner churches and ministries serving children in need across metro Detroit
• Direct Programming: Running year-round tutoring and summer camps through the Connecting Kids to Christ Center in partnership with East Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Detroit
• Church Partnerships: Equipping other churches to replicate proven children outreach strategies through the REACH Initiative

Founded in 1987, Gifts For All God’s Children began by providing gifts to meet the needs of children, so churches and other nonprofits could strengthen their relationships with the children and families they served. Over time, the organization expanded to include direct programming and is now training other congregations to implement similar children outreach models in their communities.

The award presentation included a video showcasing the organization’s programs and the children and families they serve throughout metro Detroit.

Gifts For All God’s Children will release children’s wish lists for Christmas sponsorships in mid-October, allowing donors to directly sponsor a child in need during the holiday season.
